Terhi Vaimala

Terhi Vaimala is a Helsinki-based dance artist, who has worked extensively in the field of Finnish contemporary dance since 2003, when she earned her M.A. in dance from Theatre Academy Helsinki. Terhi has primarily worked as freelancer with independent dance companies as well as in Helsinki Dance Company. Since her studies, she has also created her own choreographic works and has taught dance and body conditioning, in addition to studying West African music as accompanist and performer. Terhi’s way of interpreting movement is characterized by a holistic, experiential approach as well as by yoga and rhythm music influences.

Terhi began her collaboration with Petri Kekoni with the work Glow of Dimness in 2006, and she has subsequently danced in the company’s works MEVOTH – Miksi emme voi olla tässä hetkessä, The Falling Earth, Non-Linear and Variations of Foreign Origin.
