Words in movement and movement in words

Workshop by choreographer Petri Kekoni and word artist Laineen Kasperi is going take place in Cirko on 12.4. A new opening to the Helsinki workshop genre is coming, as Kekoni and Laine will hold a joint workshop related to the soon-to-be-premiered work Onomatopoiesis.
What is it about? In the workshop, we offer a glimpse into the pair’s findings on the mystical relationships between word, sounds and movement in the spirit of Onomatopoiesis. Workshop takes place in the actual place where the piece was performed, i.e. on stage at Circo. As in the work, we will reflect together on the deep origins of sound and movement; after all, the event of movement usually takes a verbal form either in the form of a concept or a feeling that comes to mind, and the result can also be onomatopoeic nonsense. In the workshop, we will create each participant’s own ocean of movement and vocal expression.
During the four-hour workshop, we first warm up with physical tasks characteristic of choreographer Kekoni’s movement method, and then the power and weight of words emerge in the form of Laine’s text and its presentation. We explore how long words and movements can remain separate and do they need to remain separate?
The workshop is open to everyone and it is free of charge. It is suitable for both dance and theater professionals and amateurs. Welcome!
